The IsoBlock V module has been designed to provide high-quality isolated differential voltage measurements for applications requiring scaling of high voltages, as well as superior isolation.

Each IsoBlock V unit hosts four separate isolated channels, each of which can be connected to separate measurement sources while providing a range of functional coverage up to 1500V. The input of each specific IsoBlock V channel has its own isolated reference and can be configured to suit user needs. All processed signals output from the IsoBlock V unit are referenced in respect to the ground channel of the user’s data acquisition system.

Flux Gate Methodology

The IsoBlock I-FG-4C uses Flux-Gate methodology to measure the current flowing through the input conductor. This technique works by placing a toroid with a high number of turns (secondary) around the input current path (primary), while a close-loop circuitry controls the current through the secondary to null out the magnetic field inside the toroid. The input current is then obtained by multiplying the current from the control circuitry by the number of turns of the secondary. This is followed by an anti-aliasing filter and a conditioning stage to output a ±5V signal.

Three-way Galvanic Isolation

The IsoBlock V-4c modules provide a three-way galvanic isolation:

  • Channel to Channel
  • Primary to Secondary
  • Signal to Power

This galvanic barrier prevents unwanted currents from flowing along the circuit and adds a level of protection as well as allows to operate grounds with different potentials.

High Input Impedance & Low Output Impedance

Verivolt's IsoBlock V-4c devices have a high input impedance to reduce the unwanted effects of adding a load to a source. Also, the high input impedance increases device safety. The output is low to enable run long wires between the sensor modules and Data Acquisition devices.
